Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about - it can be anything from the house I live in to my favorite perfume. Leave your choice here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an LJ entry. That way you get to see a little bit about my life.

I think that this will be a lot of fun!

Shopping Online [Tuesday
7:31am]
I have looked nearly everywhere, over here in the US, for an icing bag and nozzles. They don't exist. Nor does food dye. What the ? Apparently, no-one in America cooks/bakes from scratch anymore. I have yet to find a cake shop here in San Diego and I must try the party shop, but it would seem I have to go shopping online to find the required items for decorating things like the somehow famous 'sweet pile 'o' crap' cake.

I want to start getting more creative with this. Maybe do some Art Deco or Nouveau style decoration. They only cater for cream piping or that stuff that you make roses and leaves out of. (Don't know it's name) You know, the big pipe nozzle stuff. I picked up what I presume is the smallest decorating set I can find over here, at a Bed Bath & Beyond store, yesterday, along with cookie tray and grate to cool them on. However, it's still quite a wide hole. Possibly too big for proper writing in icing. Anyway. Online shopping beckons. Wish me luck.

Yearn [Saturday
12:52am]
Immortal wind that carries away my desires toward the sinking sun as it brushes past my fine summer dress and hurries it's way to point obscured. Another sunset; another day of calling with every ounce of my blood. The burnt sky falls asleep, so why can't I? Stars begin to sprinkle across the velvet blue. But where are you? Morpheus cast you purse of sand across my upturned face. So I might wake again, refreshed to start again. The ocean below me coursing ever more harshly against the sandy ancient rocks, sings her commiserating lament for me. Thank you all for being with me again. I know you are the few I can rely on. Perhaps Neptune could sweep me away to sleep eternally? No. I'd rather wait 'til I can feel the snow in my hair again. The sun across my bed and that musty smell of damp and hungry cat, waking me. 'Til I can rise and greet another few lonely hours and spend my time this life, hunting for you.

I've been meaning to post a photo of this. [Friday

When I first arrived in Philly, I was gasping for a drink and I saw this can. It just epitomised what I thought I'd have to deal with in an east coast city like Philadelphia. I have kept the can since then and displayed it on my fridge top. Just to remind me. All I can say is. Thank goodness I'm on the lower west coast now and I wasn't wrong about the can.

Some relationships ... [Wednesday
9:44pm]
..are like running with wollen mittens on. Do you rmember how a pair of knitted gloves would feel great against the bitter cold? They would break the icy winds, allowing you to fling the odd snowball or two and though they got sodden with the coldest water, they were almost a placebo, giving us license to carry on regardless, under the impression we were imune somehow. But do you also remember how they made the skin on your hands cringe when they were dry and you had to wear them whilst running somewhere? Imagine chewing the knitted glove and that cringe sensation is the one I am refering to. It's ticklish at first but after a few moments it becomes irritating. Little by little, to the point that you can no longer stand to wear them. Some relationships are like that. Is it just me?.....

I'll fetch me coat! x

Last few days. [Wednesday
8:48pm]
Drove up to LAX on Monday to pick up one of the lady sailors from Point Loma, who flew in from Honolulu, Hawaii, where her husband is stationed. Her flight of 7 hours was delayed furth fo some emrgency work to the plane before they eventually took off, in the same plane, without any actual maintenance being done to it. >:S Anyway, as I was going to be yards from [info]xaemyl's place, I texted him and we arranged to meet up at the Mobil station on Maple and Sepulveda. It was really nice to see him face-to-face finally. I kept hugging him. No idea what he made of me really. As Jen (Sailor Chick), began to pass out in the back of the VW, I had to let him go. He promised to try and make it down for a day or weekend soon. The drive back was very serene and we glid along at a smooth 80mph most of the way. My two passengers fell asleep to my singing them lullabyes from Europe. Landed at home safetly and all dispersed to their own cars and went on their way home.

We have an ant problem. By we, I mean the whole community. By have, I mean had, hopefully. The exterminators cam over to my place at 13:30 despite my being advised between 09:00 and midday. The carpet cleaners were meant to come today too. But they purposely waited til the Terminex man would have arrived thus not allowing them to enter hous for 4 hours after the treatment went down. I left a note for them asking to reschedule for tomorrow, but i have a hunch, they either never arrived or they won't be bothered to come or rebook. Ho hum.

Bought Rich a new bike today. See photo below. We both liked it's classic lines and simplicity. No gears either. This could make hill climbing that much harder, but then, it's not me cycling to work. Heh!

We went shopping for a coffe table and shelving today. I found a table I really liked but Rich thinks it may be too big for the living room with the sofa now taking up the extra room. I disagree. I will take measurements and check on the table tomorrow. It's a good cherrywood base. Slightly oriental flavour with a sandy coloured marble top.

Still haven't found a sarong for the poolside. Need to buy some new black suede Airwalk skater trainers. Mine have large holes worn through the sole.

Today has been too hot. no breeze to speak of, even though we are ocean-side. i got so overheated that the back of my hair was dripping wet onto my neck. Grim.

Rich has fallen asleep half undressed on the sofa. It's not like he does anything strenous while at work. He's still in class and only has two 2 hour lessons a day. He goes to bed at 21:00 most nights and is out cold til 04:30 when his first alarm goes off. What the hell is wrong with him? Is it sheer laziness or perhaps his serotonin level is messed up?

I may got to the pool again, to cool down. Laundry at 03:00 again.

Night. x

Finger Tapping [Sunday
7:17pm]
The last two nights, from 7 pm til roughly 4 am have been taken over, much like my living room and patio, by a White Wolf Vampyre: The Masquerade rpg. I've not played anything like this in 10 years and haven't created a character for at least 12. Friday night was a reminder game and character creation session for me and a tutorial for some of the other players. I'm playing a Ventrue for the first time. A 5th Generation Italian lady librarian who lives and works in her own Occult and Antiquarian Library in Rome. Her name is Italy Vittoria. It was more fun creating the character than playing her though. This was often the case in the past too. There are 6 other players besides the GM. I am the eldest in the group, the others being between 19 and 25. Mostly 20 year olds. They are still gun bunnies, so Ben, the GM, felt the need to put them through a short game where he played a main character that had god-like stats that out-ranked anything the players had, to explain that his games are mostly about role play rather than rolling di and playing power points. A bit tedious for me, and to be honest the second night we played, though it was the beginning of an actual campaign, was a bit tedious too. I'm not impatient but I can tell that the GM is probably a 25 year old with a control streak. His style of GMing isn't necessarily good for anyone but him. He may not even realise that. Ho hum. It can only get better, right?

The community cat Miss Kitty, seems to favour our place to sleep and rest safely. She's adorable and kills my livingroom rug a lot. We have to remember though that we really can't take her in perminantly for two reasons that I care about. 1: We can be thrown out of this apartment without much notice if they discover we have a pet. 2: As and when I leave, if not Rich as well, I will not be able to take her with me to Europe. Even with the pet passport, which means jabs etc. and a chip, she would have to bear with 6 months quarantine in Luton, where they place cat quarters directly opposite to dog quarters and most cats come away traumatised from the dogs barking their heads off day and night at the cats they see across the walkway. Not nice.

One of our new friends is going up to L.A. to try out for American Idol on the 8th of August. She has a very good clear singing voice. Watch out for her. Her name is Tasha. Shes a blonde chickadee from Texas.

I cleaned the fan today. The free standing one that I have had running 24/7 for the last year. I am amazed how much air was not getting through because of the small carpet of dust and fluff growing on the front grill.

I've been in a strange mood lately. Artistically, I mean. On occasion I attempt to write short stories and the like. Recently there has been a longer story evolving in my head. Do any of you know what I mean. Names I hear in everyday conversation stand out and I conjure up a character for that name and place them into the tale that's growing with the number of characters I'm amassing. Very odd. Any writers among you? Secret or otherwise?

I am about to get into my 50's halterneck tankini and slip into the jacuzzi. It's been a sticky overcast day.

I miss everyone both sides of the pond. Life is dull without you and my spirit sadened by the distance.

Welcome and Thank You [Friday

Thanks to all you gorgeous people that followed me over from the other journal. It had started to go a way that wasn't really me. I appreciate your presence. I hope this LJ will allow me to be more personal with old friends, new friends and good friends. Or whichever combination of those three. >:D It's actually quite a relief. *bursts into a bad R Kelly impression and sings '( believe I can fly....* *sound of shotgun* [/singing] Sorry about that. Anyway, woo hoo and hope you stay with me. xxx
